Karen is a certified Consulting Hypnotist with the National Guild of Hypnotists and has taken advanced hypnosis studies with the American Hypnosis Association and the Hypnosis Motivation Institute. Karen is a Certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Master Coach and NLP Master Practitioner. Using additional tools to help people on many levels, she holds specialized certifications in dream therapy, regression, smoking cessation and second-degree level Reiki. She also teaches Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and has incorporated improvisational teachings into her coaching practice and workshops.

Improvisation is especially helpful in teaching people to react and adapt -“think on your feet.” She has personally found that improvisation is a powerful way to open-up people’s creativity and innovation. It strengthens and builds excellent communication skills - rapport - teamwork and leadership.

Karen holds Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degrees in Liberal Studies from Stony Brook University. Karen’s career experience, interests, her education and years of study in the areas of human potential, psychology and motivation are the inspiration for Ninth Wave.

Prior to Karen’s focus in the area of transformational coaching and hypnosis, Karen served for 20 years in various leadership roles at three major research universities – Duke University School of Medicine, UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine and Stony Brook University Medical Center and University. Karen’s years of experience at these prestigious institutions has fostered an intense and abiding interest in the strategies, communication styles and thinking of highly effective and successful people.

Karen's passion is to help people overcome conflict and challenges – within themselves and with others – so that they can move forward and feel good about themselves and the life they lead. This passion was the catalyst for launching Ninth Wave Coaching & Hypnosis.

Problems & Solutions

“If I had an hour to solve a problem I'd spend
55 minutes thinking about the problem and
5 minutes thinking about solutions.” — Albert Einstein

This quote illustrates Ninth Wave’s approach in helping guide individuals throughout the process of change. It is important to invest time and effort asking the important questions, exploring one’s values, beliefs and patterns of behavior. This process of discovery greatly helps to improve our understanding of what we really want.

To live the life you want, first you need to know what you want. Being successful in your personal or professional development means first, identifying the results you choose.

Spending more time identifying what you want, instead of focusing on what you don’t want, is key. If you are dealing with some imposed change or seek some desired change in your personal or professional development, the first choice is to call Ninth Wave for a confidential consultation.

Let’s work together and start to get the results you choose!
